A pressure reducer valve allows you to adjust and lower the water pressure for the hand shower. At high water pressures the hand shower will start to leak and become damaged. Homes with very high water pressure are recommend to buy a pressure reducer. You can control the water flow of the hand shower from the self cutting tap, but this does not lower the static water pressure. The pressure reducer solves this issue.
